An iconic view of Bristol's Harbourside. We are lucky to live within walking distance of this spot, which is right by the 'M Shed' museum of Bristol. If you ever visit our lovely city there's a beautiful wander around the water with cracking cafes and pubs at exceptionally convenient intervals. I love the uncompromising way the cranes jut out against the skyline with their wonky intricate asymmetry. At some times of the year they are bedecked with festive lights, and at others they talk to each other as Pat and Doris, engaging passers by and each other in conversation. No really!
It was painted from a selection of sketches and photographs to blend the buildings, tracks, and the most interesting dockside vessels, with the looming presence of the cranes. Extra points for spotting the recreation of John Cabot's historic 'Matthew' just able to peep through between the legs!
