Jane and Mike Kendall

Hand printed linocuts, original watercolour paintings, limited edition prints, affordable art, greetings cards, and other lovely things.

Jane and Mike worked together as a creative partnership for over 15 years under the guise of another vision...

Mike was Jane’s husband, and since Jane's untimely death in 2018, Mike has been committed to keeping Jane’s amazing legacy of beautiful work alive using her original linocut blocks, ink recipes, and creative printing and hand-finishing techniques. Mike keeps Jane's spirit of experimentation and creativity alive by occasionally reimagining new ways of using the existing blocks, and playing with new colour and handmade paper combinations, as well as recreating old favourites, and classic versions.

Mike also creates his own watercolour paintings, drawings, linocuts, and limited edition prints.

If you would like to ask Mike anything about the work, please get in touch, or read on for a little more about us.

Jane

Jane Kendall graduated in 1990. At various stages she was a graphic designer, dress maker, soft furnisher, rag rugger, framer’s assistant, portrait painter, artist, illustrator and mother. In around 2010 a gift of lino flooring offcuts from a neighbour began a new career chapter, and a love of the process and possibilities of linocut printmaking.

Jane was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the spring of 2018 and died 6 months later after an amazing summer filled with laughter, memories and lots and lots of cake.

Mike

Mike was Jane’s husband. After many years as a successful and occasionally award-winning graphic designer Mike is rediscovering his love of drawing and painting. He is also dabbling in occasional printmaking experiments along with printing and hand-finishing Jane’s wonderful linocut designs.

Mike has always been fascinated by the changing qualities of light, reflections, and water in landscape, and loves an old, crumbly building.
